What Resources Do Schools Receive?
Upon Request, free problem sets and group activities are provided to schools in a Club in a Box Resource Kit. The activities provided for the Club Program foster a social atmosphere, and there is a focus on students working together as a club to earn recognition and rewards.
MATHCOUNTS Club Program materials can also be used to supplement classroom teaching. The activities and problems are written to meet the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics standards for grades 6-8.
What Are Teachers Saying About the MATHCOUNTS Club Program?
"I started using the MATHCOUNTS Club program once a week during our elective class time period. It’s been a big hit! The students are really getting into the different discovery projects that we do. Here are some pictures of the Cube Poster problem. Thanks for starting this club! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for to help encourage interest in math among middle schoolers!"

"Just a thank you for the whole MATHCOUNTS program. As a classroom teacher and "coach" I can't begin to tell you what a positive impact it has had on hundreds of my students. It provides a challenge and thinking skills that are too often missing from "approved textbooks" or state curriculum - it does make a difference. So for what its worth, would you let people there know that you're appreciated..."
- Randy Lomas Harvest Park Middle School
"We did the pirate day activity (even though it wasn't officially pirate day) a couple of weeks ago. The kids loved it. They went and told their friends how much fun it was and we had 20 students at the next meeting. We usually average about 7."
- Tisa Futch Rugby Middle School
"This program is fabulous! Thank you so much for facilitating it. I have so much increased interest and enthusiasm for math due to these monthly challenges. The format is a perfect length and the degree of difficulty is accessible to lots of our students. This will also help me when I select the 4 for the MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition!"
- Liza Waters Pike School
"Pi Day has become a major event at our school, with the singing of 'Oh Number Pi' and the eating of numerous pies, donated by parents. In some classes, we measure the circumferences and diameters of the pies before eating, and use those numbers to approximate pi."
- Rich Morrow Cherry Creek Schools
"I just wanted to thank you for the great ideas in the MATHCOUNTS Club in a Box. I opened mine this morning and can't wait to get started. I am sure that there are many fun and interesting math club sessions in our school's future based on these ideas. And we will certainly be working towards silver then gold status. Thanks again!"
