MATHCOUNTS® Ones to Watch MATHCOUNTS program participants are among the best and the brightest middle school students in the nation, and we are proud of their achievements inside, as well as outside of the classroom. Our "Ones to Watch" distinction is reserved for students who strive for excellence, give back to their community, inspire others, or display remarkable innovation. We're pleased to recognize these special individuals each month as part of our "Ones to Watch" feature. Teachers: find out how to nominate a student at the bottom of the page. The 2008 MATHCOUNTS National Competition Winners
President George W. Bush congratulated the top finishers in the Lockheed Martin MATHCOUNTS National Competition – 2008, along with their respective coaches and the first place Texas state team and coach in an Oval Office ceremony. We would like to recognize the MATHCOUNTS National Individual Champion Darryl Wu of Bellevue, WA, semifinalists Evan Miller of Owensboro, KY and Anderson Wang of Ambler, PA, as well as Texas State Team Champions Kevin Li of College Station, Kevin Tian of Austin, Ding Zhou of Houston and Bobby Shen of Sugarland for their outstanding achievements as elite Mathletes®. (Bobby Shen was competing in an international math competition in Hong Kong and was unable to attend the ceremony.) President Bush praised each of the winners for their mathematical prowess and their commitment to academic excellence, and we would like to echo his sentiments. This group of young men is certainly one to watch! Nominate a MATHLETE If you'd like to nominate a student for the MATHCOUNTS "One’s to Watch” feature, email us at info@mathcounts.org with "ATTN: Ones to Watch" in the subject line. Submit a photo of your nominee and tell us, in 500 words or less, why they should be the "One to Watch!" Nominees must be current, registered MATHCOUNTS participants. Teachers, coaches, volunteers and sponsors may nominate one student per academic quarter.
