Brutus – The Problems

In a remote region of Canada, on an island called Ellesmere Island, researchers Dave Mech and Dean Cluff have been tracking a wolf named Brutus. The data collected through observations of Brutus and his pack have provided tremendous insight into the life of these wolves. Brutus is out on his daily patrol. He began his day by leaving his den and walking 10 miles due north. He then turned 60 degrees toward the east and travels 10 miles. At this point, how far is Brutus from his den? Express your answer is simplest radical form.
Now Brutus hears something, so he turns 90 degrees counter-clockwise and runs 10 miles. No longer hearing the suspicious noise, he turns another 90 degrees counter-clockwise and walks another 10 miles. At this point, how far is Brutus where he was at the end of question 1? Express your answer is simplest radical form.
While on his journey, Brutus notices that there are researchers tagging arctic hares that they had captured. The researchers captured and tagged 20 hares. If next week the researchers capture 60 hares and 2 of them are tagged, how many hares should the researchers estimate that there are in their region of Ellesmere Island?
